Winifred Brady Adams ( 1871-1955 )
Winifred Brady Adams (1871 - 1955) was born in Muncie, Indiana. She spent most of her life in Indiana where she was married to her art teacher, John Ottis Adams ( an American impressionist painter and art educator ). Winifred Adams is known for floral still life painting. She studied with William Merritt Chase, who was most influential on her.
As a painter, Winifred Brady Adams demonstrated an interest and skill in still life subject matter. She had an avid interest in gardening and floral arrangements. She combined the floral subject matter with china and copper vases from her own collection to create rich and vibrant still life subjects for her paintings. The copper vases were generally painted to reflect the many colors of the garden in the composition.
Winifred Adams was a member of the Women's Art Club of Cincinnati and an associate member of the Society of Western Artists. Her work appears in collections such as Indiana University, John Herron Art Institute, Richmond (Indiana) Art Museum and Minnetrista. She exhibited at the Muncie Art Association, St. Louis Exposition of 1904 and the John Herron Art Institute.
