Paul Madeline (1863-1920)

Paul Madeline (October 7th 1863, Paris - February 12th 1920, Paris) was a French painter.

In 1894, Madeline started exhibitions at the Salon des Artistes Français.

In 1897, Madeline was chosen to become a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais. Also at that year, he won an honorable mention.

In 1990, Madeline exhibited in the United States and won another honorable mention.

In 1908, Madeline founded "La Société Moderne", which includes the painters such as Lebasque, Raffaëlli, Aman and Maurice Chabas.

In 1910, Madeline was a full member of the Salon Nationale des Beaux-Arts.

Madeline depicted the French landscape in splendid colour and in loose brushstrokes. Madeline did not only paint the landscape in Paris where he was born and mostly live but throughout the country, from the Mediterranean all the way up to Brittany. His paintings are comparable to the work of the renowned Post-Impressionist painter Armand Guillaumin.

He died at 57 years, on February 12th 1920 in Paris.
