Carl Reichert (1836-1918)
Carl Reichert or Karl Reichert , born on August 27 , 1836 in Vienna and died on April 5 , 1918 in Graz , is a lithographer and an Austrian landscape and animal painter.
He was born in Vienna in 1836. He is the son of the animal painter, portraitist and lithographer Heinrich Reichert.
He studied at the Graz Academy of Drawing , before continuing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and then staying in Rome . On his return to Austria, he painted landscapes , urban scenes and animals , specializing more particularly in portraits of dogs and cats. In 1874 he became a member of the Vienna Union of Artists and exhibited at the Vienna Künstlerhaus (en) . During his career, he uses the pseudonym J. Hartung.
He died in Graz in 1918.
These works are particularly visible in the Neue Galerie Graz (de) and in many private collections.
